Sidi Syaid mosque was built by Sidi Saiyad, a
slave of Ahmed Shah, founder of the Ahmedabad city, in late 1570.
Sidi Saiyad mosque is best known for it's extremely atrocious
stonework, this place is enough to make a trip to Ahmedabad
worthwhile. This small mosque was once the part of the city wall
that surrounded the Ahmedabad city. Sidi Saiyad's Mosque is situated
close to the river end of the Relief road. Sidi Saiyad mosque is
decorated by beautiful carved stones and windows that depict the
symbolic intertwining of the branches of a tree
This elegant mosque is renowned for its twin windows of pierced
stone, This place is a superb and peerless example of the delicate
carving that were done by bare hands by the people in the past.
Wooden models of these windows are a fine example of Indo-Sarcenic
architecture and have been kept in the world famous New York and
Kensington museums so that people of the west can see the
architectural art work of the ancient Indian or eastern countries.
