Dada Hari Wav also known as the stepped well, was
built to provide water and a calm, cool place for the travelers to
take some rest. Built in year 1501 this place presents a truly
wonderful example of the Gujarati architecture, built in such a
fashion that even on the hottest day the interiors of the well
provide a cool comfort. This place provides various levels that acts
as a platform from where the visitors can go lower and lower down
until they reach a small octagonal well.
Just behind the well there is the mosque and tomb of Dada Hari,
also known as Bai Harir Sultani, the women responsible for building
of this architectural wonder, she was the superintendent of the
royal harem. This mosque presents a unique similarity with the
mosque of Sidi Saiyad, as the mosque of Dada Hari also have a tree
motif just as that of the Sidi Saiyad. Hindu architects developed
the well and it is reflected on the beautiful carvings on the walls
of this well. Although due to its negligence by the proper
authorities this well is now almost dry still the beauty of this
place attracts hundreds of people everyday who come and marvel on
this architectural wonder.
